The snowpark in Lindarets is no more, it is confirmed ! But is there a replacement?
Not really, the expert snowpark will return to it’s original place on the Arare next to the boarder cross. A worrying decision. Rumours are that the snowpark would not be profitable enough and that the Avoriaz station has decided that the big jumps could become too dangerous and that there has been a petition from certain ESF members for it to be dismantled as it encroaches upon their lesson areas.
This madness might be acceptable in other French ski resorts but Avoriaz has always been at the forefront of snowboarding and has always brought with it success, so why change it. Is it down to the mentality of those in charge?
It is known that snowboarding, the snowparks and freestyle skiing and the culture surrounding these disciplines are not shared or even perhaps understood by the good old men that make the decisions but this is not reason to abandon the snowparks as these days, they clearly are a major attraction in a ski resort.
The above is a (very rough) translation of the French posted in the new Facebook group/petition to save the Lindarets snowpark. Their aim is to to ask the officials for the real reasons behind their proposed move to abandon the Lindarets snowpark.
Join the group ! Have you say ….
